Residential Camp for TribalGirls

UDAAN is an unique educational intervention designed as a residential camp for adolescent girls in the age group of 11 to 14 years , who have either never enrolled in school or dropped out very early. It enables girls to complete five years of schooling through transacting a compacted and accelerated curriculum in just one year , after which , on passing the class 5 examination, they move on to middle and secondary schools. the girls who enroll in UDAAN are usually victims of social , cultural and community barriers and economic compulsions of extreme poverty which keeps them out of school and compels them from late childhood itself, to contribute to the family income , take on the role of care giving to their younger siblings and assume responsibility for all household and family livelihood chores. UDAAN has been following syllabus on language , mathematics and social sciences prepared by Care India and a syllabus on English prepared by Sikshasandhan with the help of experts.. Sikshasandhan has been managing this UDAAN programme since 2011 in Odisha at Kushalda . More than 200 tribal girls have already been persuing upper primary education in different Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas(KGBVs).At present 103 tribal girls pursuing their studies at UDAAN.
